Grace Moments

From the first moment I met our little Grace in a hospital in Africa, we have experienced moments that we can’t contribute to anyone but God. Some people call them “God winks” but here at Give Grace we like to call them Grace Moments. Times when something extraordinary happens - a song on the radio when you need it most, money donated that we never saw coming or random meetings and connections with people you just know God brought into your life for a specific reason or purpose.

We hope these stories of Grace Moments bring you joy, peace, faith and excitement at what God might have in store for you personally. Grab a cup of coffee, a matcha or a Lotus and soak in the Grace…

Shopping Therapy…

Shortly after Grace died, I found myself wandering the aisles of a Home Goods store. If you have never been to a Home Goods, it is a store that has everything from pots and pans to collagen powder and pet supplies. It also has an aisle for gift giving that typically has a wide array of greeting cards. On this particular day, I was feeling all the emotions of having just buried our little Gracie girl and was actually pretty numb as I combed through the cards. And then I saw it! A small thank you card with a picture of a little girl with brown skin and puffy black hair in a yellow dress. The drawing was simple, but it pierced me to the depth of my broken heart. The little girl on the card looked identical to Grace! I couldn’t believe it. You see cards with depictions of people with non-white skin are so rare and those with depictions of little girls with non-white skin are the ultimate unicorn- never available. I just stood there in the aisle as tears flooded my eyes. Gracie. My girl Gracie. In the midst of my deep grief, here she was…depicted on a card in Home Goods. I scooped up every single one of the cards and rushed home to show Doug. He couldn’t deny it either, it definitely looked like our Gracie girl. The back of the card had a website listed: littlefeetsopus.com. I went to the site and couldn’t believe the absolute beauty of the work by this artist named Jean Sanchez. I was taken aback by her work. I had to reach out to her. Fast forward to today. Jean and I have become like soul sisters. She gave to us during one of the hardest months of our lives by listening to our story of Grace, joining our work by designing cards for The Give Grace Foundation and recently creating a custom birthday card with a true depiction of Grace. Jump over to her site and enjoy!
