Doug & Jen live in Pella, Iowa where Doug runs a basketball academy and Jen works in the field of special education. They have eight children and one grandson. Their daughter, Grace, went to heaven on April 16, 2025 which was the impetus for the Diers family to start the Give Grace Foundation. While processing their grief the bills of almost $20,000 arrived for Gracie’s funeral, burial and gravestone expenses. Despite being blessed by a Go Fund Me effort to offset a portion of the costs, it felt like a second gut-punch to them as they had to dive into their savings to cover these expenses. Doug and Jen do not want other families to experience that same feeling while grieving the loss of their child. It is the mission of the Give Grace Foundation to offset the expenses incurred by families facing the funeral, burial or memorial of their child. Doug serves as the president/chair for the Give Grace Foundation Board of Directors. Jen serves in an advisory role.
